What you take will have a real result just how much and how well you sleep and, as a matter of fact, there is a direct correlation between sleep troubles & meals. Most individuals think nothing of grabbing a “midnight snack” or eating a late dinner but regrettably, doing these things can genuinely be causing you to have wakefulness and even insomnia. Sleeping pills are prescribed for a number of reasons. They help restore sleep in a crisis or during illness. They are available on prescription and the dosage and length of time they should be taken depends on the individual and the circumstances.

To make certain that you don’t have sleep disorders due to your eating habits it would be a good idea to make a list of your favorite foods and beverages that may be having an ill effect on your sleeping pattern. The first thing that comes to mind for most people is going to be coffee or other caffeinated beverages on account of the awake feeling they supply.

In order to avoid having a caffeinated beverage such as coffee affect your night’s sleep you should have your last cup no later than three in the afternoon. If you are a late afternoon drinker consider using tea instead because there are a number of teas which provide benefits to your health as in herbal teas which promote overall health and are decaffeinated.

For the most part, alcohol is a contributor to troubled sleep and a relaxing glass of wine before bed may actually be keeping you up. The best way to keep alcohol from effecting your sleep is to just do your drinking before dinner rather than those popular late-night drinks like that after dinner scotch or glass of wine. In order to ensure that a needed bathroom break does not disturb your sleep do not drink ninety minutes prior to going to sleep. You will find it amazing how these little changes in routine will positively contribute to a good night’s rest.

For the most part you want to avoid certain foods that could cause sleep trouble like spicy foods that will warm you and kick in your circulation and can wake you up! Some spicy foods can disrupt your digestive systems giving you troubles like heartburn, gas and constipation. All of these problems are ones that can also create issues when attempting to get to sleep so try to avoid spicy foods when you can. Consider eating them for lunch if you can’t stay away from them too long. Don’t eat at least 3 hours prior to laying down for the night because most people do not realize that digestion is a highly active process for the body with regards to systems and blood flow.

Digestion can actually cause you to have a restless night’s sleep or to miss out on hitting those important REM and deep stages of the sleep cycle. Your body may become too involved going through the paces of digesting your food so don’t eat anything in the evening before going to bed or you could suffer from sleeplessness. If you know you have a slow digestion process then be sure to consume your dinner no later than seven to get the best results.

The number of people that suffer with acid reflux disorder is on the increase. Many similar conditions exist but they all exhibit pretty much the same range of symptoms but all fall under the umbrella of gastrointestinal disorders. In order to assimilate the food we eat, our stomach dissolves it with a strong acid.It is the result of hydrochloric acid that is trying to flow back up the esophagus that causes the heartburn. Prilosec is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid).

When food enters your stomach, a valve called the lower esophageal sphincter opens to allow food into the stomach which normally remains closed so that stomach food and acid do not flow back up into your esophagus area. The problems start when for some reason this valve does not shut and the stomachs digestive juices are allowed to flow back up (acid reflux) causing the feeling of heartburn. The conditions proper medical name is called gastroesophageal reflux disorder. Unfortunately the exact cause of acid reflux condition remains a mystery, but it is believed an individuals diet is primarily to blame, still, the volume of food that is consumed in any one sitting can also contribute because the digestive system becomes overwhelmed.

Many people that overeat find they have this condition because their eating habits affect the stomach walls and place pressure on the muscles surrounding them, this in turn causes the esophageal valve to behave erratically leading to stomach fluids rising and causing the awful burning feeling in the chest. By lessening the amount of work the stomach has to do at any one time should reduce the instances of heartburn.to prevent this from happening you should eat small meals throughout the day. The stomach is the doorway to body health so it needs to be treated with respect, this is because the stomach is not only responsible for breaking down our food but also for preparing this food to be converted to specific nutrients that every person needs.

A short term solution may appear to be the drugs that are easily purchased over the counter but guidance is needed, while they are effective there can be adverse implications with their continued use. It may take a while but the best solution is to make adjustments to your drinking and eating habits which may have caused the acid reflux condition, this should be done for a period of a few months to strengthen your stomach’s normal processes. If you can reduce the heartburn occurrences, in time you may well be able to slowly start eating those dishes that have needed to be cut out.

Lifestyle changes extend beyond those of just eating habits as other contributing factors to acid reflux can be:

All of these factors are within your control and it only requires a change of habits and behavior on your part, this is all possible if you want the heartburn problem to ease. All that is required is a little dedication on your part to be careful about what you eat and drink to possibly clear up your acid reflux problem, whether you decide to take this and your doctors advice is really up to you!
